A former leading fashion model who was 5'10'' tall, Carey was popular with top American fashion designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 in 1979, the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists named her father Scientist of the Year. Carey has lived across the globe due to his profession. The model began modeling for a part-time basis while she was attending the University of Colorado and caught the attention of a representative for the Ford model Agency in New York.
