Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the top-streamed track within 6 months. It was a mixture of reggaeton and pop music has not just brought interest to reggaeton, but also brought attention to Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish songs in 2016, as opposed to two in 2015. Despacito's popularity Despacito peaked in 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs are expected to make it into the top 100. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in 2017, popular artists began to collaborate with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny worked together for the track MIA MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna teamed up with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. In the year 2020, some reggaeton musicians were unhappy with the way the genre was heading towards mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a member of a brand new generation looking to alter the course. He incorporated electronic dance styles and other genres into his songs.
